Customer Review: Cheap, but cheap

The camera is a dinky thing. It would easily fit inside a 12oz soda can with room to spare. We bought 2 and one was DOA, unable to record anything and just said "Processing..." when turned on.
The working unit is a nice toy, but the quality is pretty much at the kiddy caliber. We bought it for the night vision which we're using for a low-budget ghost hunting comedy TV series, and the image is sub-par. It has a gray scale image instead of the usual green duotone. The night vision picture has a really bad vertical and horizontal crosshatch pattern in it that's very distracting. The light sensitivity is pretty low and the IR light only really works out to about 4'.
The button layout wasn't very intuitive. I had to resort to reading the manual to figure out how to make it work and I work with cameras all the time.
Focus consists of either macro or infinity. Zoom is disabled at 1080p. You have to be at 720p or lower if you want to zoom in.
But hey, it's a sub $200 camera, so for what it is, it's priced appropriately.
